
Three Main Changes
First
The monthly levy rate for the first domestic helper employed without levy concession will increase from $265 to $300.
Second
The monthly levy rate for the second domestic helper employed without levy concession will increase from $265 to $400.
Third
Qualifying age for levy concession will be increased from 65 years old to 67 years old*.
*Households with persons aged 65 and 66 that are enjoying or have enjoyed the concession before 1 April 2019 will not be affected. They will continue to pay the monthly concessionary levy rate of $60 per month for their domestic helper on and after 1 April 2019.
When will it take effect?
All changes will take effect from 1st April 2019.
From 1 April 2019 onwards, who are the employers that can qualify for the Domestic Helper Levy Concession?
- Employers with young child or grandchild (Singapore Citizen) below 16 years old staying at the same address
- Employers (Singapore Citizen OR Singapore Permanent Residence whom spouse is a Singapore Citizen) aged 67 years old or above.
- Employer with an elderly parent or grandparent of Singapore Citizenship aged 67 years or above OR Employer or employer’s spouse of Singapore Citizenship and the aged person is a Singapore Permanent Resident staying at the same address
- Employer or employer’s family member (Singapore Citizen) with disability that require help in at least 1 activity of daily living staying at the same address
How much is the monthly domestic helper levy concessionary rate?
The monthly concessionary rate remains unchanged at $60 per month.
Any written notice?
Take note that existing employers will not be receiving a separate letter informing them of the changes. It will however be reflected in the FDW levy bill.
